With Google’s recent mobile-centric algorithm change and the ever increasing number of mobile web users every day, there’s no better time than now to embrace mobile technology.

After all, smartphones and tablets are no longer just for the younger generation. Millions of adults use them daily to find brands, buy products, do research and more. And if you want to reach these people – these new, viable, ready-to-buy customers – then using mobile technology is an absolute must.

Have you started to go mobile at your company yet? If not, the time to as is now. Here are five easy ways you can integrate mobile tech into your brand.

Have a responsive website. This is the biggest and most effective way to go mobile. Since Google now considers mobile-friendliness a crucial ranking factor, having a responsive website can help your website see significant jumps in search engine rankings – and as a result, visits, views and conversions, too. Though some websites may require full overhauls in order to become responsive, not all of them do. In fact, if you’re on a content management system like WordPress or Joomla, there’s usually a plug-in or module you can install that will handle it all for you.
Create a mobile app. The next thing you can do is create a mobile app. Now, I don’t mean an Angry Birds-style app – but something your customers will use and value. Maybe an app to manage their account and make payments? Or if you sell products, a shopping or coupon app may be a better option. If you’re not sure, survey some past customers, and see what types of apps would have made their transaction easier, then go with those ideas.

Try out text message marketing. Keep in touch with your customers by trying text message marketing. Send them coupon codes, let them know about sales, and keep them in the loop about upcoming products and services you’re offering. It’s a great way to ensure your marketing messages are seen (many emails just get deleted without even opening them!), and it’s amazing for encouraging brand loyalty.

Optimize your email campaigns for mobile viewing. If you’re investing in email marketing, then make sure they’re coming across the way they should. The majority of people are going to open them and view them on their smartphones or tablets, so make sure you test your messages on these devices before hitting send. Optimize the photos, make the text and call-to-actions clear and easy to see, and make sure they loading quickly and without problem.

Tell stories visually. Lots of text just doesn’t translate well to a small screen, so focus your efforts on visual storytelling instead. Create infographics, shoot videos, and offer up slideshows that share your message visually – not just through words. Chances are they’ll get more views, and they’ll probably result in more conversions, too.
There are many more ways to go mobile, but these are a few places to start. Have you embraced mobile tech at your company yet? If so, tell us how in the comments.
